Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

Just a few ingredients are all you need to make these sweet and savory brown sugar glazed carrots. They're a perfect side dish to any meal!

  • 1 lb carrots , sliced into 1 cm coins
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Fresh ground black pepper , to taste
  • Chopped parsley or carrot tops , for garnish (optional)

  • Add carrot coins, butter, brown sugar, salt, red pepper flakes, and water to a medium saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  • Once boiling, reduce heat to medium low and simmer for about 10 minutes, until carrots are al dente and most of the liquid is reduced to a sauce. Stir occasionally as needed.
  • Top with fresh ground black pepper and parsley or carrot tops, if using. Serve immediately.
NOTE: This recipe also works with baby carrots. Increase cook time to 12-15 minutes depending on their size.
