2014 Summer Bucket List
I had so much fun with my 2013 Summer Bucket List, I thought I would do another one this year! Even though we don’t have a very busy summer planned, it’s sure to go quickly. I’m hoping this list will keep me on task to make sure we make the most of it.
Here are a few goals I have for the summer. How are you planning to make the most of your summer?
>> Protect and harvest the grapes from our huge vines in the backyard. Every year I have good intentions, and every year the birds get them.
>> Reinstate Ice Cream Sundays. I’ve made it a point to make homemade ice cream every Sunday for the last few years with moderate success. Here’s to year number 3!
>> Find a u-pic farm. This item is carried over from last year, as I completely blew it off. Many of you gave me some great suggestions for places to pick your own fruit and veggies in Utah, I just need to get up and go.
>> More dashboard chocolate chip cookies!
>> Swim across Payette Lake. It’s been a dream ever since I was a little girl to swim across the mountain lake where my family has a cabin. We’re heading there a couple times this summer and I think I’m finally going to do it!
>> Bake an upside-down cake. Can you believe I never have? Pineapple is the traditional fruit of choice, but I’m thinking peaches or plums, or maybe even strawberries.
>> More hiking, more time spent out in nature. Maybe even our first campout as a family of three?
>> We haven’t even planted our garden yet. Ugh, how behind are we? But I still plan to! I’m hoping for another bumper crop of tomatoes this year. Considering that they went ahead and planted themselves, I’m taking that as a good sign.
>> More backyard gatherings! We love entertaining on our deck and I have a goal to have all of our local friends over before the summer is out.
>> Use our firepit more often. I need an at least weekly dose of s’mores in my life this summer. Don’t we all?
What’s on your summer bucket list?
I’ve made a rhubarb upside down cake before! It was killer!
Oooh sounds fabulous! That might be the one I have to try.
SO fun!!! You should just come to my garden for the you-pick. It’s HUGE and I’m not quite sure what the dream was when I planted. I’m going to have to put “can for a million days” on my buckets list. LOL
Sounds like a fab list! The boys and I have been working ours too. It’s a great idea and will be a good go to source when the littles get bored!!
Love your list!! I totally want to try baking cookies in the car! And I may just have to adopt your ice cream night for our house!
High five on the little rogue tomatoes! I end up dehydrating most of mine and I always go throw the seeds out in the dirt. Sure enough, they spring up every year whenever they’re ready and bury me in new tomatoes for the rest of the summer. I U Picked raspberries last year for jam and it was way fun. I want to try apples this year since our trees are still just babies.
