I wanted to blog about this yesterday, but couldn’t seem to drag myself out of bed. That’s how exhausted I was. I slept until almost noon and then had to take an afternoon nap just a few hours later. Baking for 300 people sure takes its toll.
I had been planning for weeks and prepared as much ahead of time as I could. Still, last week I was very busy. Every evening I was in the kitchen until near midnight, Friday I took half a day off work, and I even had to wake up at 7:00 am Saturday morning to get everything done (and I am not an early riser on the weekends). It’s a good thing I was so prepared and gave myself so much time because I definitely needed it. But I made it through without any meltdowns or crises and I consider that a huge win.
And it was worth it! The event was a huge success.
I may have been a little too prepared. Look at all those boxes! I had a lot of goodies leftover, but I don’t think my coworkers mind helping out with that.
So what did I make?
And Sugar Cookie Bars.
I was extremely nervous about how the evening would go and what everyone would think of my goods, but everything went smoothly and I got so many wonderful compliments.
Finally, I was able to relax and enjoy the party. And what a party it was! The fashion show was incredible. It just proves that cool stuff does happen in Salt Lake City.
I was so happy to be involved and I have my friend Zach to thank for that.
And I have to also thank my husband and assistant, Steve. I could not have done this alone and he was a tremendous help, both in offering moral support and an extra pair of hands.
Overall it was an amazing experience. Was it stressful? Yes. Was it hard? Yes. Would I consider catering another event? Most definitely!
